Surgical Services/Outpatient Surgery
Teche Regional Medical Center’s Surgical Services provides up-to-date health care close to your home and family. Our skilled clinicians use advanced equipment and work closely with your physician to provide quality care to every patient. Our Outpatient Surgery Department is located in our hospital, which gives our patients additional support and safety of a full service hospital to assure their needs, both anticipated and unanticipated, are met.
Outpatient Surgery Unit
When surgery can be performed on an outpatient basis, Teche Regional Medical Center combines all of the safety and security of our inpatient surgical unit with the convenience and comfort of at-home recovery. Located on the 5th floor, the Ambulatory Surgery Department offers a comfortable environment for pre and post op procedures. The Outpatient Surgery Unit provides care to “same day” surgery patients, endoscopy patients and outpatient procedure patients. The unit is staffed with highly qualified Registered Nurses and Technicians supported by the latest technology available.
After checking in at the nurses’ station, patients are escorted to their rooms. Family members are welcome to accompany our patients for their procedures. Family members are then asked to remain in the Surgery Waiting Room during the patient’s surgery to ensure they are available to speak with the physician upon completion of the procedure.
Should you come to Teche Regional Medical Center for a surgical procedure, trust that you will receive the very best care from the moment you enter the door to the day you return home. Your physician will instruct you as to specific preparations prior to your surgery including needed lab work or other testing.
The Surgery Department provides peri-operative nursing care 24 hours a day, seven days a week to infant, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients. Registered Nurses, Surgical Scrub Technicians and Central Sterile Technicians work together to serve both inpatients and outpatients in a family-centered atmosphere that only a smaller hospital can provide.
Teche Regional Medical Center performs many types of surgeries and surgical procedures by highly skilled physicians in an array of medical specialties, including:
- Ear, Nose and Throat
- General Surgery
- Pain Management
If anesthesia is required, an anesthesia team member will talk with you prior to surgery to explain the anesthesia process. All patients requiring anesthesiology services are assessed by a member of the anesthesia team prior to the procedure. Family members will be directed to a comfortable waiting area located on the second floor. A member of the surgical team will update them on your progress and will notify them when you are moved to the recovery room. At that time, your physician will update your family. Once you have moved to the recovery room, you will be closely monitored until you wake up from the anesthesia. After the recovery room, you will be moved to a patient room for the remainder of your stay. Upon discharge, please arrange to have someone available to drive you home and remain with you for a while.
