Teche Regional Medical Center Names 2011 Mercy Award Winner

Morgan City, Louisiana • Hospitals are full of unsung heroes - people who take care and concern for others to a whole new level. Teche Regional Medical Center is singing the praises of one such individual. Idell Johnson was awarded the hospital's 2011 Mercy Award.

Established in 2002 to honor the life of Scott Mercy, founding Chairman and CEO of LifePoint Hospitals, Inc., Teche Regional Medical Center's parent company. The Mercy Award is the highest honor an employee can receive. The annual award recognizes one hospital employee who best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.

"LifePoint Hospitals is committed to delivering the highest quality patient care possible. We are extremely proud to recognize Idell Johnson for her efforts on behalf of our patients and our community," said Butch Frazier, Teche Regional CEO. "Her exemplary work and compassion set a high standard for healthcare professionals. We are proud to have her as part of our team. Undoubtedly, our patients benefit from the kind of commitment to excellence and to humanitarian concerns she demonstrates each day."

Mrs. Johnson has worked at Teche Regional Medical Center for 45 years in the Food and Nutrition Services Department. She is always pleasant to be around and never complains.  She has served as a mentor for many employees in the department. She is a mother, grandmother and also plays the role of a mother at work. She loves everyone and isn't afraid to express her care and compassion towards co-workers and patients.  She is always willing to take time to listen when someone needs to talk and she always knows just what to say.  If anyone in the department needs a hand, she will stop what she is doing to help them without reservation.

This honor puts Mrs. Johnson  in the running for LifePoint Hospitals' 2011 company-wide Mercy Award. She will be honored at a ceremony in Nashville in September along with the Mercy Award Winners from all of the other Lifepoint facilities.
