Morgan City, LA • Scott Smith, Chief Executive Officer of Teche Regional Medical Center announced today that he has resigned as CEO of the hospital. Smith will continue his career path at a larger healthcare facility in his home state of Mississippi.

Mr. Smith joined the Teche team in September 2006, and brought with him a broad range of leadership experience in the healthcare industry. When asked about his tenure at Teche, Smith said, "During the last four years it has been a pleasure to be a part of the Teche Regional Medical Center team. As the CEO and team leader I have observed many things of which I think the hospital should be proud of. It is clear that the team at Teche Regional has worked very hard to make this hospital a preeminent regional healthcare center, and I believe they have achieved success."

"During my tenure, I have also enjoyed the opportunity to be a part of this great community. My Family and I appreciate everyone in the community taking us in and treating us like family. It has also been a pleasure to work alongside all the employees, Board of Trustees and the talented medical staff," said Smith. "It has been with their help that we have made tremendous progress in moving our hospital forward to assist the community with their healthcare needs.  We have been able to recruit new physicians, improve and expand medical technology, and improve the physical appearance of the hospital," added Smith.

"Scott came at a critical time in this hospital's history and has served this community well," said American Division President Michael Clark. "We are confident that given the tremendous opportunity here in Morgan City and at Teche Regional Medical Center we will be able to find a very strong CEO to lead Teche," added Clark.
