Orthopedic Surgeon to Join Teche Regional Medical Staff

Butch Frazier, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Teche Regional Medical Center announced today that Christopher M. Stewart, M.D., Orthopedic Surgeon will be joining the Teche Regional Medical Center Medical staff. 

 

Dr. Stewart attended the University of Florida, graduating with honors with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Cell Science. He attended Ross University School of Medicine, graduating with highest honors. During undergraduate and medical training he was in numerous honor societies, on the Dean’s List of scholars, and also a Ross University Distinguished Scholar. He completed his postgraduate Orthopaedic Surgery training at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana in 2010. During residency, he was awarded the James A. Albright Resident Research Award for his biomechanical research. He went on for further training, completing a fellowship in Orthopaedic Trauma at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga in 2011.

 

“We are very excited to add Dr. Stewart to our staff,” said Butch Frazier, CEO.  “His terrific personality, remarkable educational background, and his desire to be a part of this community made him an excellent candidate for our hospital,” Frazier added. 

 

Dr. Stewart specializes in adult and pediatric fracture care, sports injuries, joint reconstructions and replacements, musculoskeletal infections, foot and ankle disabilities, limb alignment correction, total hip, shoulder, elbow and knee replacements. He also treats all types of hand injuries and infections. He also specializes in treatment of all foot and ankle deformities and injuries, just to name a few.

 

Dr. Stewart, his wife Sonya and two children will be residing in Patterson, La. “I am very excited and privileged to care for patients of all ages in this community. I am looking forward to working with Teche Regional Medical Center’s medical staff to provide full time Orthopaedic surgical care to St. Mary Parish and beyond,” said Stewart.  

 

Dr. Stewart is now accepting new patients in his clinic, First Orthopaedics of South Louisiana. His clinic is located in the Medical Office Building at 1151 Marguerite St., 700 B.  Appointments can be made by calling 985-384-0444.
