Medical Executive Committee Chosen at TRMC

Morgan City, LA • The 2010 Medical Executive Committee (MEC) at Teche Regional Medical Center has recently been chosen. The facility's physician leaders consists of Kimberly Thorguson, MD, Chief of Staff, with the Pediatric Clinic; Erica Menina, MD, Vice Chief of Staff, with the Pediatric Clinic; John Osborne MD, Secretary/Treasurer, with Acadian Orthopaedics; Francis H. Metz, III, MD, Chief of Medicine, with the Medicine Clinic of Morgan City; and Julie Price, MD, Chief of Surgery with Advanced Women's Health.

As Chief of Staff, Dr. Thorguson serves as the principal officer of the medical staff. She presides over the MEC and works in conjunction with Hospital Administration and the Board of Trustee's to ensure quality patient care is provided and professional performance is upheld within the hospital.

Dr. Thorguson, a native of Morgan City and a graduate of Central Catholic High School, received her Bachelor of Science from LSU in Baton Rouge. She completed the residency program at Louisiana State University (LSU) in New Orleans and is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.

The Medical Executive Committee holds meetings monthly. The committee oversees the many different functions of the hospital. They receive and act upon all clinical activity and performance reporting, implement approved policies of the medical staff, make recommendations to the board and the Chief Executive Officer on all credentialing matters, develop and implement programs for continuing medical education, and assists the hospital to meet all regulatory and accreditation programs.
