Dr. Julie Price receives Board Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

11/22/2011

Dr. Julie Price recently became board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

“We are very proud of Dr. Price on her recent accomplishment. Becoming Board Certified shows her aspiration for ongoing learning and professional growth in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology”, said Butch Frazier, Chief Executive Officer of Teche Regional Medical Center.

Board Certification is a prestigious designation acknowledging a physician has achieved practice-based knowledge in a given specialty that is broad, deep, and current. The board’s program for maintenance of certification assures that the physician continues to meet the highest professional standards and knowledge while enhancing it in their practice.

To become Board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, a physician must pass a written test to demonstrate that she has obtained the special knowledge and skills required for the medical and surgical care of women. She must also show experience in treating women's health care prior to the oral examination. The oral examination is given by a team of well-respected national experts; the exam tests the physician's skills, knowledge and ability to treat different conditions. The examiners also review the patients the physician treated during the past year.

Originally from Morgan City, Dr. Price finished her residency program at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana in July of 2007.  She received her Medical Doctorate (MD) from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in Shreveport. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Louisiana State University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She was also the Salutatorian of her graduating class at Morgan City High School.

Dr. Price has been a member of the Teche Regional Medical Center medical staff since August 2007 and currently practices with Advanced Women’s Health in Morgan City. “It has always been my goal to provide the highest quality obstetrical and gynecological care to the women of our community. This certification proves my desire and commitment to continue to enhance my overall knowledge and skills to maintain that goal for my patients,” said Dr. Price.
